Guest bedroom one has a queen-size log bed, a door to the front deck and a bathroom shared with the media room. Most of the bedrooms share large bathrooms, which open off the hallway. There are five guest bedrooms at Elk Refuge House, each with its own comforts and joys. A fold-out leather couch faces the wood-burning fire a desk, not pictured, is bordered on both sides by floor-to-ceiling bookcases. Double sinks are set in a long stone-topped vanity.Įlk Refuge House has a wonderful, fire-lit office off of the Great Room that can be quickly and easily converted to another sleeping area if needed. In the private bathroom, a giant soaking tub stands next to a big, walk-in shower. A big sitting area with two love seats and two comfortable armchairs stands before French doors and a wide private deck. A king size bed waits a few steps up in a raised portion of the room and a TV is mounted on the wall facing the bed for late night news or movies. The primary suite is located at the southwest end of the house, in a wing of its own near the media room. With a fire in the fireplace, a film on the TV, music playing on the distributed audio system and drinks on tap at the bar, the media room gets plenty of use. Ample leather armchairs and couches provide plenty of space to kick back. Each sunrise is a new and thrilling thing.Ī few steps off the kitchen is the media room with a bar, a hang-out spot the place for parties, family game tournaments or pizza and movie night. Moon and stars sail slowly over the mountains owls and coyotes call across the plain. All, of course, with a vast and heavenly view. A gas grill, a gathering of forest-green Adirondack chairs, and a hot tub big. The gleaming wood floors, the burnished red-gold of the log walls, the antler chandeliers, the changing blues of the sky-filled windows, the bright throw rugs and flowers: all combine to create a home so graceful, hospitable and warm that you might well want to stay forever.Įlk Refuge House’s wide decks function as a second great room in good weather. The dining area, kitchen and breakfast table all fall under the auspices of the great room, each space open to the next and warmed by the beautiful river rock fireplace. Long leather couches look out to the breath-taking panorama outside huge peeled tree trunks support the peaked ceiling. The great room, in the center of the house, is truly great. Monumental windows accommodate the monumental views. The exterior simplicity of Elk Refuge House is deceptive - for inside, all is richness and color, texture and comfort, excellence of design. The huge, jagged Tetons reign silent over all. Great herds of elk cross the wide grasslands on the other side fox, coyotes, deer and eagles are abundant. The property’s spreading private acreage is surrounded by a buck rail fence. Set, as its name implies, on the very grounds of the National Elk Refuge, it is a big, open house, built all on one level, in the simple, pared down style of National Park buildings, trim painted in classic camp-green. Three miles outside of Jackson, on a winding country road, a ranch gate marked by two bugling elk heralds a very special property: Elk Refuge House, a jewel among Jackson Hole luxury vacation rentals. ***Property may be rented once in any 31 day period.*** **Minimum Night Stay Requirements May Vary and Final Availability is Subject to Homeowner Approval.**
